Olpejeta Conservancy and Interactions with Chimpazees

It’s a chimpanzee affair! A deal between the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), and the Jane Goodall Institute led to the creation of the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Chimpanzees that arrive at the Sanctuary are carefully nursed back to health with 24-hour veterinary attention and an engaging quarantine area. The goal is to give abused and orphaned chimpanzees from West and Central Africa a permanent home. Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary has had to continue receiving chimpanzees rescued from terrible conditions throughout the past ten years, bringing the Sanctuary's total chimpanzee population to 35. They have a fresh start here in Sweetwaters.

What’s even more exciting? The junior ranger program that allows your kids to embark in an adventurous journey at the conservancy. By purchasing a Junior Ranger Pack, your kids can now spend the day in the role of ranger. These packs feature a book full with entertaining activities, as well as colouring crayons and stickers. The kids must complete all of the activities as they explore the conservancy, answering the booklet's questions along the way. At the conclusion of their journey, the tourist staff at the Morani Information Center will be ready to certify their status as honorary rangers by asking them to repeat the ranger oath and awarding them with a certificate, ranger hat and pin.

Ol Pejeta ensures a beautifully diversified safari experience in this special region of Kenya and the opportunity to truly impact conservation.
